The NIDO pendant light evokes a plant nest suspended from the ceiling: a dome of dried rattan strips, hand-assembled on an internal frame, with ruffled strands radiating in all directions to create a lively and wild texture. Natural Rattan When lit, the light passes through the canopy of fibers and projects a network of warm, shifting shadows onto the walls and ceiling — a spectacle that changes depending on the angle and intensity of the bulb. Its size of 50 cm in diameter and 25 cm in height is ideal above a dining table, kitchen island, or reading nook. The black cable and E27 socket ensure simple and quick installation on any existing light fitting. Raw, organic, textured: the NIDO brings a natural presence to an interior that no smooth lampshade can replicate — particularly striking when installed as a pair above a large table.

Dried Rattan — The Raw and Living Fiber

Rattan is a tropical vine whose stems are harvested, split into strips, and then naturally sun-dried. This drying process sets the fiber in a golden honey hue with warm nuances and gives the strips their flexible rigidity, allowing them to be assembled into light yet resistant structures.

On the NIDO, the rattan strips are not woven in an orderly fashion: they are arranged freely on a rounded frame, with strands protruding and intertwining organically. It is this technique that gives the pendant its ruffled and wild look — an effect impossible to replicate with synthetic materials. Each piece shows natural variations in shade and texture, making it unique.

NIDO — light in its wild state
The NIDO is unlike any pendant light you've seen. It doesn't smooth, polish, or geometrize: it lets the material speak for itself. The dried rattan strips emerge from the frame like the strands of a bird's nest — some straight, some curved, all different. When off, it is a vegetal sculpture suspended in space, an object of curiosity that attracts the hand as much as the eye. When lit, it transforms: light penetrates through the gaps and creates a pattern of organic, warm, and shifting shadows on the walls, changing with every draft. As a duo above a kitchen island or a restaurant table, the effect is striking — two luminous cocoons that interact and warm the atmosphere without any artificiality. It's the kind of lighting that makes guests look up and starts conversations even before the dishes arrive.

Installation in four steps

1
Cut the power. Turn off the circuit breaker for the relevant room before any work. Check for absence of current with a voltage tester.
2
Fix the plate to the ceiling. Screw the mounting plate to the existing anchor point. Thread the black cable and adjust the desired suspension length (cable provided, length adjustable on request).
3
Connect the wires. Connect phase, neutral, and ground to the terminals of the terminal block or quick connector provided. Check the solidity of the connections before closing the ceiling cover.
4
Install the bulb and switch on. Screw in an E27 bulb (not included) — opt for a warm white LED (2,700 K) to enhance the golden tones of the rattan. Restore power.

NIDO vs FOLIA — which pendant light to choose?

Bulb and socket: the NIDO is equipped with an E27 socket (French standard). The bulb is not included. We recommend a warm white LED (2,700 K) of 6 to 10 W for a warm light that enhances the honey tones of the rattan. An LED bulb with visible filament produces the most beautiful effect through the fiber canopy.

Decoration tip: the NIDO is particularly striking as a duo — two pendant lights installed side by side at slightly offset heights above a kitchen island or a rectangular table create an organic and warm effect. Hang it 70-80 cm above a table or 2 m from the floor for ambient lighting. Its raw and textured style perfectly matches bohemian, wabi-sabi, rustic-chic interiors, or restaurant and wine bar spaces.

Electrical installation: connection to the mains must be done with the power off (turn off the circuit breaker). If you are not comfortable with wiring, call a qualified electrician. Dried rattan is a natural flammable material: do not exceed the recommended wattage (10 W LED max.) and never use a high-power halogen or incandescent bulb in direct proximity to the lampshade.

A decorative gift that won't go unnoticed

The NIDO is the kind of light fixture that evokes a reaction as soon as you see it — its raw texture and filtered light make it a particularly striking housewarming, birthday, or wedding gift. Offer it alone for a statement effect, or as a duo for a spectacular composition above a table. A gift that transforms the atmosphere of a room in minutes.

Frequently Asked Questions

What material is the NIDO made of?
The NIDO is made of natural dried rattan. The rattan strips are split, sun-dried, and then hand-assembled on an internal metal frame. The strands are arranged freely, some protruding and intertwining organically — it is this technique that gives the pendant its characteristic ruffled and wild look. Each piece shows natural variations in shade and texture, making it unique.
Is the bulb included?
No — the NIDO is delivered without a bulb. It is equipped with an E27 socket, the most common in France. We recommend a warm white LED bulb (2,700 K) of 6 to 10 W for warm lighting. LED bulbs with visible filaments are particularly aesthetic: the light passing through the rattan strips creates a spectacular play of shadows on the walls.
Can two NIDOs be installed together?
This is one of the most beautiful decorative effects of the NIDO. Two pendant lights installed side by side at slightly offset heights above a kitchen island or a rectangular table create an organic and warm composition. The effect is particularly striking in dining spaces — wine bars, bistros, guesthouses — where the two luminous cocoons warm the atmosphere and spark conversation.
How do I care for the NIDO pendant light?
Maintenance is simple: regular dusting with a feather duster or vacuum cleaner (brush attachment, reduced power) is sufficient. If a strand detaches or breaks, gently remove it without pulling on neighboring fibers — the density of the pendant means the loss of a strand is invisible. Avoid prolonged exposure to direct humidity and splashes: dried rattan is designed for dry interiors.
Is the rattan color exactly as pictured?
Dried rattan is a natural material: each piece shows slight variations in shade ranging from light honey to golden caramel, depending on the harvest and drying. These nuances are the signature of an artisanal product — they are not a defect but contribute to the charm of an authentic material. Ambient light also strongly influences perception: rattan appears more golden in warm light and more neutral in cool light.
Is the NIDO suitable for a bathroom or outdoors?
No — the NIDO is designed for dry interiors only. Dried rattan absorbs moisture, which can cause mold, fiber softening, and structural deformation. Avoid bathrooms, uninsulated conservatories, and covered terraces. In a dry indoor environment, the NIDO will retain its shape and color for many years with minimal maintenance.
What's the difference between NIDO and FOLIA?
Both pendants are made of natural rattan, but their aesthetics are very different. The FOLIA has an asymmetrical leaf shape with orderly radial weaving — it is sleek, Scandinavian, available in 2 shades and 4 sizes. The NIDO has a ruffled dome shape with loose, wild strands — it is raw, bohemian, wabi-sabi. The FOLIA projects fine, radiant shadows, while the NIDO projects denser, more irregular shadows. Both are spectacular as a duo.
