Everything you need to know

Stainless steel 2 diameters It sits on the end of a keyring and never leaves your side: the BINÔME dual cigar punch is the go-to everyday cutting tool, the one you always have with you the moment the occasion arises. Crafted from stainless steel, it features two punching heads of different diameters, positioned on either side of a central nut: unscrew the desired side, choose the size suitable for the cigar, and the circular blade cuts a clean disc from the cap. No scissors to pull out, no bulky guillotine: at 80 × 13 mm and 39 g, it hangs from its keyring and remains unobtrusive until it is time to serve. Four modern finishes are available — Anthracite Grey, Gold Brass, Red & Black, and Black — and each is presented in a gift box with an orange interior.

Available finishes

Anthracite GreyA deep and technical grey, very discreet among your keys
GOLD BRASS

RED & BLACK

The punch: cutting a cigar without opening it up completely

Cutting a cigar consists of opening its head, the end closed by the wrapper, to allow smoke to pass through. The guillotine slices this head flat, the V-cutter carves a notch; the punch cuts a small disc, much like punching leather. The circular blade, by turning slightly, severs the wrapper and filler for a few millimeters, then extracts a plug of tobacco while leaving the rest of the head intact.

This smaller opening concentrates the draw, minimizes loose tobacco strands on the lips, and preserves the wrapper, which is less likely to unravel. It is the ideal cut for rounded-head modules — Robusto, Corona, Toro. The principle has one limitation: it is not suitable for pointed-head cigars (Torpedo, Pyramid) or very thin modules, for which a guillotine remains preferable. The two diameters of the BINÔME allow you to adapt the opening to the cigar's thickness.

The aficionado's keyring companion

How many good cigars have been bitten off for lack of a tool at hand? It is precisely to avoid this sacrilege that the keyring punch has won the hearts of aficionados: a tiny instrument, attached to house or car keys, and therefore always present.

The BINÔME takes the idea a step further with its two heads. On one side, a reduced diameter for slim modules or a more measured opening; on the other, a more generous diameter for thick cigars. The central nut acts as a pivot: unscrew, choose, punch, and screw back on. Its straight lines and distinct finishes, from anthracite grey to red & black, give it a contemporary, almost technical look that contrasts with more traditional accessories.

It is the tool for unforeseen occasions: a cigar offered at the end of a wedding, a lingering time on the terrace, or a round of golf that ends at the clubhouse.

Punching your cigar in four steps

1
Choose the diameter. Unscrew the side corresponding to the cigar: small diameter for a slim module, large diameter for a thick cigar.
2
Place the blade in the center of the head. Hold the cigar in one hand, apply the punch perpendicularly to the middle of the cap.
3
Turn with light pressure. A quarter to a half turn is enough: the blade sinks in a few millimeters and cuts the plug without forcing.
4
Remove, empty, screw back. Remove the tool, take out the tobacco plug left in the blade, then screw the cap back on to protect the edge.

Punch, guillotine, or V-cutter?

Criteria BINÔME Punch Guillotine V-Cutter
Opening shape Disc, two diameters to choose from Flat cut across the entire head V-shaped notch
Draw Concentrated Broad and open Intermediate
Wrapper preservation Excellent Good if the blade is sharp Good
Pointed heads (Torpedo) Not suitable Suitable Less suitable
Portability Keyring, 39 g Pocket or case Pocket or case
Ideal usage Robusto, Corona, Toro, daily All formats, at home Fans of a denser draw

Good to know: the two heads of the BINÔME offer two distinct punching diameters; their exact dimensions are not communicated by the manufacturer. The small diameter is suitable for slim cigars and discreet openings, the large one for thicker modules. For pointed-head cigars, keep a guillotine handy: find all our models in the cigar cutter collection.

Tip: always start with the small diameter. If the draw feels too tight after a few puffs, you can enlarge the opening with the second head — the reverse is not possible. Remember to empty the plug after each use: a clear blade cuts cleaner the next time.

Precautions: the circular blades are sharp. Always screw the cap back on after use, handle the tool with the blade facing outward, and keep it out of reach of children. Do not force it on a cigar that is too dry, as it might crack: a properly kept cigar can be punched without effort.

The small gift that gets used every day

Attached to a keyring, the BINÔME is a gift that is truly used. Its gift box makes it ready to offer for a birthday, Father's Day, a secret Santa among aficionados, or as a token of appreciation after a great evening. Choose the finish according to the personality: Gold Brass for elegance, Red & Black for character.

For a more complete gift, pair it with one of our lighters and a cigar case: the enthusiast will then have everything needed to transport, cut, and light their cigar wherever they are.

Frequently asked questions

How to choose between the two punching diameters?

The principle is simple: the opening diameter should remain significantly smaller than the cigar's, so that the wrapper keeps a solid rim around the hole. The small diameter is suitable for slim modules and those who prefer a concentrated draw; the large diameter is intended for thick cigars, whose head offers more surface area. When in doubt, start with the small one: if the draw is too tight, you can enlarge the opening with the second head. The exact dimensions of the two blades are not communicated by the manufacturer.

How to switch from one punching head to the other?

The two heads are placed on either side of a central nut. To use one of them, simply unscrew the corresponding side to reveal the blade, punch the cigar, then screw it back on to protect the edge. The other head remains protected during this time. This system avoids having two separate tools on your keychain and allows switching from a slim cigar to a thick one in seconds. Always screw by hand without forcing to preserve the threading over time.

Is the punch suitable for all cigars?

It is suitable for the vast majority of rounded-head cigars: Corona, Petit Corona, Robusto, Toro, Churchill, and most parejos. However, it is not suitable for pointed heads like Torpedo, Pyramid, or Belicoso: the circular blade does not find a flat surface, and the punching would be too narrow. It is also less relevant for very thin modules, where the opening would leave too little wrapper. For these formats, a guillotine or a V-cutter remains the best choice, as a complement to your BINÔME.

Do the blades need maintenance?

Very little. After each use, remove the tobacco plug left in the blade using a toothpick or by gently tapping the tool. From time to time, wipe the heads with a dry cloth to remove tobacco residue and wrapper sugar. The stainless steel is corrosion-resistant, but avoid leaving it wet or putting it in the dishwasher. Do not attempt to sharpen the circular blades yourself: a clean cut depends primarily on a well-preserved cigar and a perpendicular motion.

What is the difference with other punches in the shop?

The BINÔME distinguishes itself by its straight and contemporary lines, its four distinct finishes — Anthracite Grey, Gold Brass, Red & Black, and Black — and its central nut that separates two punching heads. It is the everyday tool, attached to your keyring. Other punches in our selection focus more on design: a body engraved with retro motifs or a body chiseled with scrolls and interchangeable heads. The choice therefore depends mainly on style: if you like understated and graphic objects, the BINÔME is for you.

Is the Gold Brass finish made of solid brass?

The body and blades of the BINÔME are made of stainless steel. "Gold Brass" refers to the color of the finish, warm and luminous, and not a solid brass tool. The same applies to the Anthracite Grey, Red & Black, and Black finishes: all share the same steel construction, only the color changes. Like any surface finish, it may develop a slight patina with the friction of keys over time; it is the mark of a tool that gets used, and this in no way affects the quality of the cut.

Is it delivered in a case?

Yes, each BINÔME is presented in a gift box whose orange interior beautifully showcases the tool. It can thus be given as is for a birthday, Father's Day, an end-of-year gift, or a thank you between aficionados. The box also serves for storage if you do not want to keep it on your keychain all the time. To complete the gift, consider a cigar-appropriate lighter or a carrying case: the set will form a highly appreciated small travel kit.
