Everything you need to know

The CAPONE Cigar Punch is a portable keychain-style cigar punch made of anodized aluminum that combines two preparation tools in a single, ultra-compact body: two retractable stainless steel needles for piercing the cigar head (traditional double-puncture punch) and an integrated 9 mm circular punch that functions as a mini-round blade for those who prefer a wider draw. Ultra-compact size: 70 × 15 mm and weighing only 30 grams — it slips into a pocket, onto a keychain, into a suit jacket pocket, or into a bag without ever being felt. Its integrated keychain ring allows you to permanently attach it to your keys or your EDC (Every Day Carry) collection, ensuring it is always within reach when it is time to enjoy a cigar — at the office, at a restaurant, during a business trip, or on a terrace. Its removable protective cap covers the stainless steel needles when not in use — safety for your fingers and your clothing. Available in 6 distinctive colors: Onyx Black, Sterling Silver, Imperial Gold, Emerald Green, Carmine Red, Copper Orange. Compatible with all premium cigar brands: Cohiba, Habanos, Montecristo, Romeo y Julieta, Partagas, H. Upmann. Anodized Aluminum 2 Tools in 1

Punch or classic cigar cutter — what's the difference?

In the world of cigar preparation, two schools of thought disagree on how to open the head before smoking. The straight cut (with a guillotine or blade cutter) slices off a few millimeters of the head to open up a wide path for air — this is the most common technique worldwide. It provides a generous draw and the fullness of the aromas, but it can weaken the wrapper (the cigar's outer leaf) if the cut is imprecise, and it exposes a large surface area that may allow loose tobacco bits into your mouth.

The punch (known as the punch cut technique) works differently: it pierces a hole in the head without slicing the wrapper, creating a concentrated airflow. Advantages of the punch: no risk of weakening the wrapper (it remains intact around the hole), a more concentrated draw that enhances the intensity of the aromas, no tobacco bits in the mouth (the perforation being small), and a more discreet gesture than a guillotine cut in public. Disadvantage: a less generous draw than a straight cut, making it less suitable for large-ring-gauge cigars. The CAPONE offers both techniques in one object: a double-needle punch for precision, and a 9 mm punch for an opening that falls between a punch and a straight cut — the best of both worlds in an ultra-portable format.

THE CAPONE SPIRIT: THE PORTABLE DESKTOP TOOL

The CAPONE takes its name from the 1930s American era, a time when the cigar embodied power, refinement, and a lifestyle — Al Capone, an iconic figure of Chicago, never smoked without his precise ritual of cigar preparation. The CAPONE revisits this tradition in an ultra-portable contemporary format that breaks away from traditional cigar cutters (guillotines, scissors, desktop cutters): here, the tool fits in your hand, clips onto a keychain, and accompanies the smoker everywhere without any constraint. Its cylindrical silhouette evokes the metal cartridges of the industrial era — a deliberate mechanical aesthetic that contrasts with classic polished metal or leather cigar cutters. The 6 anodized colors allow everyone to choose according to their style: Onyx Black for absolute discretion, Sterling Silver for a clean metallic luster, Imperial Gold for assertive elegance, Emerald Green or Carmine Red for a personal signature, and Copper Orange for a warm, distinctive touch. It is the EDC (Every Day Carry) accessory for the modern smoker — always on your person, ready to serve at the right moment, without any bulk.

How to use the CAPONE Cigar Punch

1
Choose your color. Select based on your style and your usual accessories: Onyx Black or Anthracite for a timeless, understated finish; Imperial Gold for a golden accent that enhances a set of keys; Emerald Green or Carmine Red for a bold, distinctive sign that is easy to spot.
2
Attach to your keychain. Use the integrated key ring to permanently attach the CAPONE to your keys or an EDC kit. The 70 × 15 mm compact size and 30 g weight are never felt.
3
Using the double-needle punch. Remove the protective cap to expose the 2 stainless steel needles. Present the head of the cigar and press the needles in firmly for a few millimeters to create two symmetrical perforations. Remove the tool — the cigar is ready to smoke with a concentrated draw.
4
Using the 9 mm punch. For a wider opening between a punch and a straight cut, use the 9 mm circular hole located on the opposite end. Present the head of the cigar and apply a gentle rotation to pierce in a circle. Replace the protective cap after each use to preserve the needles.

Double-needle punch or 9 mm punch — which to choose?

Technique Opening created Ideal for
Double needle ⭐ 2 small perforations Concentrated draw, intense aromas, no tobacco bits
9 mm punch 9 mm diameter circle Intermediate draw between punch and straight cut
— Reference (not included) Traditional straight cut requires a separate cigar cutter

When to use a punch instead of a classic cigar cutter? The CAPONE punch is particularly suited to four situations. 1. You smoke outdoors or on the go and want a compact tool to always carry with you (a keychain beats a pocket cutter in terms of practicality). 2. You prefer concentrated aromas and a denser draw (a punch preserves more of the tobacco's essential oils than a straight cut). 3. You smoke fragile wrapper cigars (Cohiba, Davidoff) that a straight cut could damage. 4. You want a discreet preparation gesture in public, without the theatrical motion of a guillotine. The CAPONE then becomes your EDC companion that solves all these situations with a single object.

Why a keychain for a cigar punch? The keychain format is not a gadget — it is a proven practical solution. Classic pocket cigar cutters (foldable guillotines, compact scissors) have a major flaw: they are often left at home or forgotten in another jacket at the crucial moment you want to light a cigar. The CAPONE, permanently clipped to your keychain, permanently solves this problem — your keys accompany you everywhere, and the punch follows. It is the application of the EDC (Every Day Carry) principle to the art of cigars: the most useful object is the one that is always available, not the one tucked away in a box.

The CAPONE Cigar Punch is an accessible and striking gift for any cigar enthusiast who appreciates practical, portable tools. Its 2-in-1 combination (double punch + 9 mm punch), its ultra-compact keychain format, and its 6 distinctive colors make it an object that is both useful (solving the problem of the tool forgotten at home) and aesthetic (the chosen color becomes a personal signature). The accessible price also makes it an excellent add-on gift to a larger present (add it to a box of cigars, a lighter, or a desktop cutter). Ideal for Father's Day, birthdays, Valentine's Day, Christmas, a thank-you gift, or corporate gifts for smoking partners. The Imperial Gold version is particularly visually striking; the Onyx Black or Sterling Silver versions are suited to a recipient who prioritizes discretion.

Frequently asked questions

Why 2 tools in a single punch?
The double needle punch creates 2 small perforations that offer a concentrated draw while fully preserving the wrapper — ideal for intense aromas and cigars with fragile wrappers (Cohiba, Davidoff). The 9 mm circular punch creates an intermediate opening between a punch and a straight cut — useful for slightly larger cigars that require a more generous draw. Having both techniques in one object allows you to choose according to the cigar and the moment, without needing to own two separate tools.
What is the difference between a punch and a classic cigar cutter?
A classic cigar cutter (guillotine, scissors) slices off a few millimeters of the head to open a wide path for air — providing a generous draw and fullness of aromas, but potentially weakening the wrapper. The punch (punch cut) pierces a hole without slicing the wrapper — no risk of weakness, a more concentrated draw, no tobacco bits in the mouth, and a more discreet gesture in public. Many experienced enthusiasts use both depending on the cigar and the occasion.
Is the CAPONE suitable for all cigars?
The CAPONE punch is particularly well-suited to classic to large formats: Robusto, Toro, Corona, Lonsdale, Churchill, and even Gordo. It is specifically adapted for cigars with fragile wrappers (Cohiba, Davidoff) that a straight cut might damage. For very small modules (Petit Corona, Demi-Tasse), a classic straight cut may be preferable for a proportionate draw. The 9 mm perforator is the intermediate option for smokers who want a more generous draw than a standard punch.
How does the protective cap work?
The removable protective cap clips onto the end of the stainless steel needles when the punch is not in use. Three advantages: 1. Safety — it prevents the sharpened needles from pricking your fingers or piercing your clothes in a pocket. 2. Hygiene — it protects the needles from dust and residue accumulated on a keychain. 3. Durability — it preserves the sharpness of the needles over time. Simply remove it before use and replace it afterwards. Sturdy pressure mechanism that does not detach accidentally.
Which color should I choose from the 6 available?
The 6 colors correspond to 6 distinct styles. Onyx Black: deep, sober, discreet, timeless black — the universal choice for all uses. Sterling Silver: brilliant anodized silver, classic metallic elegance reminiscent of watchmaking accessories. Imperial Gold: solar anodized gold, bold golden accent, immediate visibility on a keychain — for an assertive style. Emerald Green: deep green, traditional British smoking room spirit. Carmine Red: intense red, striking, assertive personal signature. Copper Orange: distinctive warm orange, original and luminous signature.
Is the CAPONE truly portable for everyday use?
Yes — that is its very purpose. At 70 × 15 mm and 30 grams, the CAPONE is less bulky than a pen or a modern car key. Its integrated keyring loop allows you to attach it permanently to your set of keys (which goes everywhere with you) or to a small EDC pouch. The protective cap prevents any discomfort in the pocket. The concrete result: the CAPONE is always available the moment you want to light a cigar, unlike desktop or pocket cutters that often stay at home.
Does the CAPONE Punch make a good gift?
It is an accessible and memorable gift for any cigar enthusiast who appreciates practical, portable tools. The 2-in-1 combination (punch + 9 mm perforator), the ultra-compact keychain format, and the 6 distinctive colors make it a useful and aesthetic object. The accessible price makes it an excellent complementary gift (to add to a box of cigars, a lighter, or a desktop cigar cutter) or a corporate gift for smoking partners. Imperial Gold for an assertive signature, Onyx Black or Sterling Silver for elegant discretion. Ideal for Father's Day, birthdays, Valentine's Day, Christmas, thank-you gifts, or corporate gifting.
