How do I use the CarbonRing in my humidor?
Place the CarbonRing inside your humidor, ideally opposite your humidifier for a reading representative of the entire humidor. Avoid placing it directly in front of the humidifier — the reading would be artificially high.
How do I check the accuracy of the CarbonRing?
The reference method is the salt test. Place a small cup of table salt, slightly moistened to the consistency of wet sand, in a sealed bag or box with the hygrometer, without direct contact. Close and wait 6 to 12 hours at a stable room temperature: the relative humidity then stabilizes around 75%. If the CarbonRing displays, for example, 73%, you know it is underestimating by 2 points: simply integrate this offset into your readings. Repeat this check once or twice a year: it is the best way to keep reliable monitoring of your collection.
What humidity and temperature values should I aim for?
For optimal preservation, aim for a relative humidity of 65 to 72%. Around 65%, cigars maintain a lively and regular burn; towards 70%, they develop more aromatic roundness. Regarding temperature, a range of about 16 to 20°C is ideal: above 24°C, the risk of mold and insects increases significantly.
