Why is Spanish cedar the gold standard wood for humidors?
Spanish cedar (Cedrela odorata) is the historic wood used in all premium humidors. Its hygroscopic properties allow it to absorb and release humidity slowly, which buffers abrupt changes in ambient levels and maintains a stable microclimate around your cigars — an essential condition for preserving their aromatic oils over time.
Beyond regulation, its natural terpenes diffuse into the confined air of the humidor and gradually enrich the tobacco's aromas with a subtle woody and spicy note. Cedar also possesses a valuable defensive property: it repels tobacco beetles (Lasioderma serricorne), a small, destructive beetle capable of ruining an entire collection.

Preparing the Black Wood before first use (seasoning)
Distilled water only. Never refill the humidifier with tap water: limescale clogs the system and can leave deposits on the tobacco leaves. Distilled water can be found at pharmacies or supermarkets (ironing section).
